FONTS

You are welcome to choose your own font. If you’d like some inspiration then try our “Font Preview” tool. For more fonts visit “1001 Free Fonts” or “da font” (pick solid fonts and avoid fonts with hairline elements). If you’d like us to match an existing font then please us send a photo.

SIZE

To minimize any delay, we recommend that you measure the space that you have available to fit your boat name.

Our boat names are made to order so you can choose whatever height you like but the following might give you some guidance:

  • 50mm high – Extra small (suitable for port names or SSR numbers)
  • 125mm high – Small
  • 150mm high – Medium
  • 175mm high – Large
  • 200mm high – Extra Large

The total width will depend on the height of the letters and your chosen font. We will calculate the width of your name to ensure that it will fit in the available space.

THICKNESSES / GAUGES

Whilst most of our clients opt for 2mm thick letters, for a modest supplement we are happy to supply 3mm thick letters for a more prominent effect. Other thicknesses are available on request.

FINISHES

Most of our customers opt for a mirror finish but we are happy to supply brushed letters if preferred.

EDGE POLISHING

For all gauges there are two pricing options, polished and non-polished edges. Non-polished edges have a matt appearance to the edges and may have small serrations or other marks from the cutting process. Edge polishing is a skilled and manual process that smooths these serrations to give the edges a smooth mirror finish.  For 2mm thick letters, un-polished edges are not overly apparent however for 3mm letters it does compromise the overall appearance, particularly if the name will be viewed from a close range. For these thicker letters we therefore recommend polished edges.

FIXING

Our letters can be installed quickly and easily using the applied 3M VHB (Very High Bonding) tape. Fixing templates and fitting instructions are provided for all orders.

If your transom is not flat, please let us know before placing your order so that we can suggest appropriate solutions.

CUSTOM DESIGN WORK

Minor artwork alterations can be carried out ‘in house’ at a minimal cost. For more complex design work we outsource the graphic design elements to provide a cost effective solution.
